Milo’s Bucket Hat is missing, yet all his other clothes were in tact and on his person when his body was recovered. It’s possible it blew away in the wind, but we searched wide and far, and it still hasn’t been found. Either the culprit kept it or disposed of it themselves, or it can still be found somewhere in the ranges – caught on a branch, or a rock, or somewhere in the creek. It could work out to be a vital DNA sample. An archival image is attached.

Beyond its use to helping determine a suspect, it has enormous sentimental value, as I would wear it in my youth and passed it down to Milo during a beach holiday. It would mean a great deal to have it back.

The Flake was missing and the aioli dip was used and I believe this is a vital piece of evidence to understanding not just the timeline of the killer, but his behaviour. If indeed the now-rotten flake can’t be found, then we’re to understand that he stopped to eat part of the meal either before, or after he did something unspeakable. Either is damning, but both could tell us a lot about who this individual is and help us catch him, or at the very least narrow down the list of suspects.

There was no DNA on the bike which shouldn’t be the case if it was thrown. It’s been relayed to me by detectives that either the mix of mud and rain damaged its viability as a sample, or if this occurred in the recovery process. I don’t trust either of these claims and feel more rigorous testing is required before it’s ruled out as a lead.

There was no murder weapon, though it would later come to light that Milo died as a result of blunt force trauma, which the coroner noted was likely a result of being assaulted with a blunt weapon. No such item was found on the site, which means it’s either still out there (discarded as well as the bike), taken and not disclosed during the community search, disposed of by the killer at a later point, or still in their possession. Recovering the weapon is a crucial step in prosecuting a suspect at such a time one is apprehended.

Milo’s left hand and right arm were no where to be found. The bones that had came apart from his body either remained in the creek or were arranged on the surface, and together made up everything but the missing appendages. What were done with these, and why were they removed? If they were either found discarded in the bush or in someone’s possession, that could be a vital clue to answering those questions.

Trey’s body is missing as well, and similarly would provide answers to his involvement. It would help to know if he was murdered, and if it was before or after the limbs were removed, and where his body is now, if anywhere at all. From this we could determine a potential suspect or motive from analysis of his body alone. We’d look at the shape/size of wounds, whether it’s brutal or precise like the limb removals, etc. From this we’d know if his assailant was angry and violent, or quick and careful, and a million more potentially useful pieces of information.
